Do You Know What I Know? at Christmas Eve

I was wondering, how to celebrate the Birth of Christ in the best way that we can? Sure enough! It is the only way to know how, to be able to feel once again just like Christmas night in Bethlehem. Shepherds, Angels, Wise men, Mary & Joseph, etc.. must be there to feel Christmas spirit. Above all, the true Christmas message that we can all agree on is "peace on earth, goodwill toward man." So how to tell the story of Christmas this year again? Small and humble way that we can, "let the animals tell the story of the Savior's birth!"

Mary & Joseph is pretty serious about doing the show. Look at them, they already selected their costumes. What about the animals? Oh! yes, they are fully dressed up. Just see for yourself, the Meewow! cat show off her claws. "You better watch out, you better not cry..."

Angels shall sing praises and trumpets shall sound that night, Oh what a night! Come and worship with us to feel, to be healed, and to adore Him once again. Merry Christmas to you all.

The address is 534, Twenty Second Street, Oakland, CA 94612. Time, 6:00 PM worship at sanctuary and drama at 7:30 PM in the Gym.

Caroling in December 2009

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Much jingling and caroling through out the night to the friends and families' homes. We had a good time of visiting and sharing the Christmas songs and scriptures to the new comers of this year from house to house. Most of them are none Christians. But God is working in their lives as we are seeing evidences in them. Please pray for their well being not just physical and mental but also spiritual. They were comforted by joining in our singing as well as our visitation.

Finally, it's dinner time. One of our church members who are also new comers since last year, provided us the delicious fish curry dish with rice and pig back bone soup. Yam!

One of the Buddhist family also invited us to come to their home and listen the carol songs. We had an opportunity to share the good news of Jesus Christ with the family.

Yes, we will continue to sing the Christmas melody and carol songs in our hearts beyond the season of Christmas.

Merry Christmas to you and your family.

OBMBC & CMF on the Go for First Music CD Recoding

We thank God for the opportunity and willing hearts of His people doing first music CD recording on the Go. Special thank to Ko Aung Doo for his kindness and dedication to our Young Adults and our church in this special project. We began recording for this music CD as a combine effort with Christian Musicians Fellowship.

The songs are composed by Ko Ja La, Ko Lian Lian, Toe Toe, Pha Yo, and myself from our side. CMF will also have their own composed songs. Fresh and talented CMF singers will perform in this Music CD. So without any further to say, "this is it!" Wait for the release of CD in very near future.

May God bless CMF's ministry as they serve our Lord, Jesus Christ with their talents.

Global International Mission Rally

Recently, some of us attended the Global International Mission Rally event at San Jose. About twenty churches attended this event. Missionaries shared their mission experiences and motivated us to do mission work. We are impressed with the missionaries from South Africa and Central America. Definitely God is at work with people in the world. He is still saving people from their sins.
The question is are we doing enough to evangelize people here in our surrounding areas? By the way, we presented Burmese song and offer prayer during this gathering. Thank you for everyone that come along and join us in this special annual mission event.
In the end, my eyes still see vividly how the pastors, missionaries, and leaders of churches come together and holding hand to hand to pray for the nations. May God bless our gathering as we pray for the mission here and far.

Australian Mission Team visited OBMBC

Saya Rupert and a mission team from Australia visited Bay Area Burmese churches. We were delighted by their testimonies, songs, dances and Sermon on Sunday. They have encouraged us with their enthusiasm to share Gospel and serve one another in the ministry of our Lord. Young Adults had much fun time with Saya Rupert during Q & A section about Australian Burmese Christians' activities and their faith. Saya explained his ministry experiences and personal testimony about being called by God into ministry. They were enjoying the fellowship together.

Burmese Christians Association of North America (BCANA) member churches; Burmese Christians Community Church of Silicon Vally, First Burmese Baptist Church of San Francisco and Oakland Burmese Mission Baptist Church hosted them on last weekend, both Saturday and Sunday. May God continue to bless the team as they go forward to the rest of missionary journey.

Seniors & Young Adults Retreat at Redding

It's a beautiful day and wonderful as well. Although the trip last for 4 hours drive to Redding, it was a worth trip for all of us. We have been blessed by Ken and Ann and their two sons for their hospitality and love that we received. It's a wide open country setting with wonderful patio where we enjoy the fellowship and fun. Definitely a peaceful place on earth where we can be away from city traffic and hassle. We have a time of worship and sharing stories.

Lunch and dinner were awesome. Thank you to those who prepared for the food. We definitely remember the BBQ from Ken, we couldn't get enough of it. Thanks so much!

Afternoon, we went to see Shasta Dam which is the most beautiful and breath taking structure we have seen.

Senior (above 40s) and Young Adults enjoyed roaming around the backyard, chasing chicken, picking eggs, harvesting vegetables, etc.. Not to mention, some of us returned home with a "pig head" which was a present from Ken & Ann.

We thank you Ken & Ann the whole family for your love and kindness toward all of us. We love you and keep you in our prayer. God bless you.

VBS: Day Four

Girls team doing drama

Go Obey! The challenge that children take on this VBS fourth day is "Obey God". They learned the story of Apostles taking stand in the mist of persecution while they were obeying God's command. Obedience to God is absolute thing in our lives. God's word says, "Obedience is better than Sacrifice" So why not obey God and let us be true follower of Jesus Christ. Aman!
OBEY Action song
Prayer for dedication of children lives as they made commitment to obey God.

Day Three, VBS

Dancing in the night under the spot lights, that was fun and energetic moments which we experienced during our VBS night sections. Children not only learned to dance along the VBS songs but also learned about how to tell others about Christ. "Go Tell" was the theme of the Day three VBS. Children acted out the story of Mary who went to see the risen Savior at the empty tomb. Jesus the resurrected Savior Himself told her that she should 'Go Tell' others about this good news. Well, children were so excited they were having hard time to go to bed at night. They love to explore more what waits for them the next day. So I am. It's all blessings. Thank God!

Day Two: VBS

Day Two : Go Risk!

We learned the story of Queen Esther how she took risk her life for saving the lives of her own people. Risking is associated with Trust in God when things are not so sure for us. God wants us to take a risk when He wants us to do His will. That means trust God for doing His purpose even if we have to risk our life. By that we can glorify God.

Highlight for today is visiting Oakland Zoo. Children and Youth did scavenger hunt. Everyone having fun beside seeing animals, by riding train, cable, roller coaster, and other joy rides. Seeing is believing, so here are some pictures.

Day One: VBS

Day one: Go Lead! The story of Gideon tells us that we should simply do what God wants us to do. In this case, Go and Lead God's people from boundage to freedom. We learned that regardless of who we are and what we can do, when God calls us to lead, He will enable us to accomplish His purpose. Children performed drama, games, shows, musical dances, art & craft projects, etc.. VBS children and youth enjoyed music and dance with beautiful, energetic, and fun filled chirography. Thanks to Ashley, Danielle, Janet, and Amanda for their effort and creative chirography that we enjoyed. Here are a few pictures that we took;
