Asian Conferences (Oct. 21-24)
Burmese Pastors conference
Asian Ministers/Seminarians conference
Asian Concurs conference
"Three conferences in three days" It sounds like 'Three days and three nights' Jesus was in the tomb. We were constantly listening the conference speakers, theme speakers, testimonies, and sharing through out three days. I felt much like staying put before the resurrection day on the third day. Well don't get me wrong, I received much blessings by knowing what other do in their ministries. Food service was great and hospitality from the host church "Chin Baptist Church" was awesome.
I and Sayama Aye Thaw were able to attend the workshops like, Ministry resources, Women ministry, Educational resources, etc.. Books were bought and made connection with Burmese and other Asian ministers.
These conference leaders, including Rev. Florance Li and others had encouraged us and provided us with ministry resources. Although it was tired some but we received much blessings and encouragements with this conference experience. Surely, we will join again the Asian Concurs meeting at American Baptist Bi-annual meeting in Pasadena, California.
Enjoy the clip, see how the grown-ups get down to childhood again. We are delighted by the speech of General Secretary Dr. Roy Medley of ABCUSA.
New Comers Workshop at OBMBC
Many New Comers who recently arrived in U.S. were gathered for the one day workshop at OBMBC. Dinning Hall was filled with enthusiasm and smile faces through out the day. Many San Jose and Santa Clara group arrived with a loaded Bus.
Questions from youth group about the education issue were being asked. Sanda Shwe and Zarni did the slide presentation on the topic of the education opportunity at U.S..
Bryan Gracia who is professionally working as crisis counselor educates the new comers with the topic on 'How to manage and prevent the personal or family crisis.'
IRC and Catholic Charity groups joined us in our discussions. They presented their roles of helping the new comers and took some questions from the crowd.
Our Moderator, Lawrence Chow also guided the new comers with their personal income tax and insurance related issues.
I heard feedback from the attendees saying that they would come again for another round of this kind of workshop to learn 'what need to know' in order to live a new life in this country.
