VBS is Here!

See how much fun did we have. Let's have more fun!
VBS Kids and Staff of 2008

Many of us, the OBMBC members are enthusiastically preparing for the Vacation Bible School for the children and youth. One thing encourage me the most is that God always brings His people to accomplish His task regardless of circumstances or conditions. Here we are once again giving our best to serve God by serving the young ones in teaching and guiding of the Biblical knowledge during a short period of time. This year theme is well suitable for all; its a fun games "Studio Go." Learning God's truth by playing games! It sounds so much fun already.

Come and check out by July 31st through August 2nd at OBMBC. Oh! don't forget to register your young ones with our staff. Our highlight during three days event is taking adventure trip to Oakland Zoo. Scavenger hunt will be on as we all are learning about the animal and their unique characters.

I see you there before Summer runs out!

Prayer by Rev. Joe Wright for USA

Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask Your forgiveness and to seek Your direction and guidance. We know Your Word says, "Woe to those who call evil good", but that is exactly what we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values. We confess that,

We have ridiculed the absolute truth of Your Word and called it multiculturalism;

We have endorsed perversion and called it alternative lifestyle;

We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery;

We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare;

We have killed our unborn and called it choice;

We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable;

We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self esteem;

We have abused power and called it politics;

We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it ambition;

We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression;

We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment.

Search us, Oh, God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from every sin and set us free. Guide and bless these men and women who have been sent; to direct us to the center of Your will and to openly ask these things in the name of Your Son, the living Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen."

(Offered by the Rev. Joe Wright at the new session of the Kansas Senate, January, 1996)

Going to LA

It is 4:30 AM in the morning. Just got back from work and have not sleep yet. I got to drive to LA today around 10:00 AM. Pray for me and my family for the trip and important meetings. It will be a great time to meet many other American Baptist families at Biennial Conference. Hope you all have fun and Spirit-filled worship at this weekend.

Yesterday was our 9th year anniversary. Praise God! Seems so quick, time passes by. We just thank God for all things in our lives including two beautiful daughters. It is so wonderful.

God bless you all and see you all soon. Keep us in prayer!

Up Hill battles within and without

Lately, I have come to face many challenges and obstacles which seems no one even knew. I felt like up hill battles against all odds from within myself and without. Please don't be alarmed. I believe it is just so called "growing pain" to my spiritual growth. There were time I thought I could do things with my ability and began to forget to rely on our Lord. That was the moment that He shew me how much He was able but not me. Some time, forgetting that all things around us are not lasting long. Emotionally, ups and downs as a person, struggle to handle which I may not be able to understand why, but in the end who is in charge? Of cause, He is... Just simple answer to my needs are prayers...

One thing begins to be disturbed in the ministry by enemies, another thing begins to grow smoothly. That's make me wonder what the Lord is doing in our midst. likewise, one door is closing in my life the other doors begins to open. Praise God!

If you ask me "Are you happy?" Yes, I am happy at the same time I am disturbed. Disturbed but not sad. Disturbed by the enemies to derail purposes of God in life and ministry. This verse remind and encourage me; "And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose." (Romans 8:28)

Hope you get encouragement. Keep up the good works, fight a good fight of faith, and share the good news my friends.

Camping out this Weekend

Point Bonita is in my mind, since we are planning to camp out in that beautiful location this weekend. We have more then 65 people enlisted to sleep over one night and many are coming to worship on Sunday to that location. Remember, there will be no worship service at church location, instead we'll be worshiping at camp site.

We are excited and looking forward to have time of fellowship, worship and spiritual enlightenment through God's word. Ephesians 4:5 states, "One Lord, One Faith and One Baptism" regarding house whole of faith, the believers. We want to learn from Apostle Paul in his perspective of Christians and church relationship. It will help us to understand and appreciate for the privilege that we have as church members, knowing that we belong to Christ's body, the Church.

Also on the topic, the "family matter and issues" may discuss with Sayama Jae on Sunday morning section. Bring your questions and suggestions for sharing with others to learn. Sayama Aye Thaw will bring us bonfire experience with devotional worship on Saturday night.

Sunrise devotion time will be a wonderful spiritual experience with God as we meditate His words and staring the breath taking ocean view from the top of the cliff.

Ops! I almost forget about the heart-fast-beating trip that we're about to experience as we plan to visit the Point Bonita Light house on Saturday afternoon.

So, what are we waiting for? Pack up, grape your Bible, and let's go.......
