Bible Insight

Who wants happiness? I guess most of us wants it. If we can buy a piece of happiness, we would pay for it. In fact, people looking for happiness in various ways. Some using drug and other chase after money, fame, and pleasure. King Solomon was the man who pursue after satisfaction of his heart, "Happiness." However, in the end he said in his wisdom that everything under the sun was "vanity, vanity, vanity." (Ecc. 1:2).

Famous Rock Star of our time, "Rolling Stone" band singer said in his song, "I can't get no satisfaction." You may ask, what makes our heart to be satisfy or even happy? When I heard the children song, in lyric, "because of thankful heart is the happy heart" right away I realized it. That is, people who giving thanks to God who provides all their needs are the most happy people on earth. Why? Because when you give thank to God means you counting your blessing which you received.

Your focus is on what you have and not what you don't. By not looking at what you can not have or have not receive, your heart is satisfy with what you now have. Other words, your thankful heart is key to joy and happiness in the Lord. Indeed, God wants thankful children rather than winding one (Heb.13:15-16). He knows the best for us. His promise is that He will provide our needs for He knows, even before we ask Him (Matt.6:31-32).

So let us start saying, "Thank you God for your wonderful blessings." Your happiness is just two words away from us, "Thank you." May your hearts be happy as you giving thanks to our Lord in this season. Happy thanksgiving!
